Dashboard

I’ve noticed that the WordPress Dashboard often becomes cluttered and less useful for end users. I don’t think the average user takes the time to consider changes the available panels or the layout, so I set some defaults for them and include a custom panel for support.

I really appreciate the site health screen and I think it’s done a great job helping to keep end users aware of their site and hosting condition. I also appreciate the effort to keep everything up to date with the automatic background updates that were introduced in version 3.7. I disable them in development because I use version control to maintain the ‘bleeding edge’ version. I’ve also found that I prefer to have an eye on a site during a major update, so I only allow ‘minor’ core and plugin updates which are generally where the security patches and fixes happen.
